Now, that I have your attention…
But wait, what is it about sex that gets people’s attention so much? It probably seems like everyone is talking about it and maybe even doing it. Perhaps, you are too. So what is all the fuss about? Well a whole lot! Sex is a HUGE deal and should not be taken lightly. Chances are this is not the first time you have heard someone say that and if you haven’t-welcome to the club; because parents, teachers, pastors, and every adult we know is saying it ALL THE TIME. We get it, sex is means something, something big. They are right, sex is a whole lot bigger than the physical act.
Having sex is emotional, and sometimes not the fun, mushy kind of emotion. Sex is giving yourself wholly to someone else, and that takes a lot of trust. More trust than you give someone unless you are married and committed to a spouse. Sex makes you extremely vulnerable, and gives someone the power to use that against you.
Aside from all the emotions that go in to sex, the physical act is pretty heavy too. I don’t need to lecture you about teen pregnancy or STDs, but be aware. These are consequences, sometimes life-long, for a one-time action.
